3 Ways to Style a Black Smock Dress

Spread the love

This year I promised myself to be more and more selective with what I add into my wardrobe, only items like this smock dress – that can be worn time and time again would stay.

Just before I made that decision I gave myself breathing room to live with my wardrobe for three month, to see what it feels like to live with less clothing. At the same time building a capsule wardrobe, where I wear sustainable outfits of specific colours, fabrics textures and somewhat impeccable life span and de-cluttering clothing I barely wear.

Considering the fact that black outfits are not the best option to wear in hot seasons, you definitely need a smock dress just like this one – it’s breathable, soft, lightweight, allow heat to escape the body and keeps you cool. In other news any outfit you’re wearing this hot season should have all characteristics of this smock dress.

How to Style a Black Smock Dress

Black is my happy colour and happier am I every time wearing this dress. In so doing, I’m sharing 3 ways I styled the smock dress out of the multiple ways I have worn them

Dress with leggings and block heel mules

My favourite look, I paired the dress with a leggings and black mules with animal skin and yellow lining. Perfect for everyday look, you can never go wrong in this duo.

Paired with slingback block heel

The slingback shoes – also from ASOS – totally transformed the smock dress to a work outfit despite the dress being short for a typical Nigerian work environment.

Smock dress with sneakers

While shopping for the dress, I had in mind to style it with this edgy sneakers I found on ASOS. It looked really nice, then I though to put on a burgundy strap bag, coincidentally it matches my braids. I would wear this to concert, feeling extra free to move my body from left to right.

Which look is your favourite? My obvious fave is the first look and would wear any of the styles for different occasions. How would you style this dress?
